FAQ
Everything people ask before their first draw
Getting started
Do I need an account?+
No. Paste a link and go. An account (free) keeps your draws forever, lets you save a blocklist, and is required for Pro. Draws you made as a guest are claimed automatically when you sign up on the same device.
Which links work?+
Public posts, carousels and Reels: instagram.com/p/…, /reel/…, /tv/…. Copy the link with Share → Copy link. Stories, private accounts, and posts with comments turned off won’t work — for private accounts, use manual paste.
Can I use it for a giveaway on someone else’s post (collab, sponsor)?+
Yes — any public post. Set the required-follow accounts to whichever hosts your rules name.
How long does it take?+
Small posts finish in seconds. Roughly a minute per 1,000–1,500 comments beyond that. You can leave the page; the draw keeps working and is waiting when you come back (log in and it will be in your dashboard).
Rules & fairness
How does “tag 2 friends” work?+
We count different @mentions per person, across all their comments. Duplicate tags count once. An “@” glued to a word (like “tod@s”) doesn’t count. Set the minimum to 0 to ignore tags.
What if the same person comments 20 times?+
By default they get exactly one entry. Turn on “every comment counts” only if your rules promised extra chances for extra comments.
Can I exclude my team or serial entrants?+
Yes — add usernames to the exclusion list. The post author is excluded automatically. Pro accounts can save a blocklist that applies to every draw.
Can you check that the winner follows me?+
Yes. Add the host account(s) and turn on verification. Drawn winners are checked against the public data; anyone who provably doesn’t follow is skipped and listed. Private accounts return “unknown” and are never rejected on a guess.
Can you check likes or Story shares?+
No — Instagram doesn’t expose likers reliably at scale or Story shares at all. We won’t pretend to verify things we can’t.
How random is it really?+
A fresh 256-bit seed from the OS CSPRNG, an HMAC-SHA256 stream, and a Fisher–Yates shuffle with rejection sampling (no modulo bias). The seed and entry-list hash are published, and /d/{code}/verify.json recomputes the draw for anyone.
Can I redraw?+
Free draws include one redraw; Pro is unlimited. Redraws use a brand-new seed and the proof page states it was a redraw and lists previous winners — transparency beats quietly re-rolling.
Counts & limits
Why is your comment count lower than Instagram’s?+
Instagram’s number includes deleted, hidden, restricted and spam-filtered comments, and comments made from Facebook cross-posts, none of which are publicly readable. We show both numbers.
Is there a size limit?+
Free covers up to 500 comments. Draw Passes cover up to 10,000 and 100,000. Contact us for larger posts.
Do replies count?+
Replies are fetched and included by default. Toggle “ignore replies” if your rules only count top-level comments.
Privacy & safety
Do you store the comments?+
Yes, to run the draw, show the audit table, and back the proof page. Guest draws are deleted after 30 days; account draws stay until you delete them. We never contact commenters, never profile them across giveaways, and never sell data.
Is this against Instagram’s rules?+
Pickfetti reads publicly visible data on public posts and never accesses your account. You are still responsible for following Instagram’s Promotion Guidelines for your giveaway (disclaimer, no mis-tagging) — see our guide.
Is my proof page public?+
Yes by default (that is the point), but you can hide it or delete the draw at any time.
Billing
What does it cost?+
Free up to 500 comments. Draw Pass $4.99 (≤10,000 comments), Big Draw Pass $14.99 (≤100,000). Pro $9/month or $79/year for unlimited draws with a pooled 100,000 comments per month.
Refunds?+
Non-refundable once fetching starts, except for technical failure on our side, double charges, or draws that never ran. Rule changes and redraws are free, so “no eligible entrants” never needs a refund.
